The ratings system on Uber is one of the cornerstones to the success of the system, and also one of the main reasons why you’ll find Uber drivers are generally friendlier than traditional taxi drivers – we need good ratings to survive! But how does your Uber driver rate you? Are you a 1 star or 5 star rider? How do you improve your rating? But first of all, how do you find out what your rider rating is?

Uber drivers receive a rating from their riders based on how satisfied they are with the service provided. When the driver picks you up on time, safely drops you where you need to go in a clean car, and isn’t rude to you – 5 stars old boy! If they turn up late, the car smells funky, and the driver is a douche – that’s 1 star for you pal! The driver sees his rating every time he logs into the app. The rider sees the drivers rating when they order an Uber too, so obviously it must be important, right?! You want a driver with a good rating.

Well, it may surprise you to know that the driver wants a rider with a good rating too! The driver sees your rating when we get your trip request. Some drivers, myself included, may ignore your trip request if your rating is too low. ‘Too low’ varies from driver to driver but the consensus seems to be that anything below 4.5 stars raises drivers’ eyebrows. Personally, I sometimes let a 4.4 pass by and wait for the next request. But for some reason the rider rating is well and truly hidden from sight in the rider app. I have met riders who didn’t even realise that they have a rating at all!

So here’s how to find your Uber rider rating:

  1. Open the Uber rider app and press the menu icon on the top left-hand corner
  2. Select Help
  3. Scroll down to Account and Payment Options
  4. Then choose Changing My Account Settings
  5. Select I’d Like To Know My Rating
  6. You will be prompted to confirm your phone number

Once you have confirmed your phone number, your Uber rider rating will be revealed…simple!
